Applications are invited from all the eligible candidates for Ph.D. programme for AY 2024 – 25. Candidates should check the research interests/domains of available supervisors before applying for admission. The admissions shall be made based on Vishwakarma University Ph.D. Entrance Test (VUPET) Examination followed by Interview.
Eligibility Criteria
The following are eligible to seek admission to the Ph.D. programme:
(1) Candidates who have completed:
A 1-year/2-semester master's degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.
or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade is allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS).
Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS).
(2) Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions, will be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS).

Note: Applicants qualifying Master's Degree in 2024 can apply for Ph.D. admission. Applicants need to submit the Master's Degree result on or before July 30, 2024, in person or through the confidential document. Applicants needs to fulfil the eligibility criteria mentioned above at the time of Ph.D admission.

The VUPET examination will have two papers
Paper I: It will have 50 questions of 1 mark each. The scope of this paper includes logical reasoning, numerical ability, language skills, research Methodology etc. This paper is common for students of all faculties. Minimum passing is 50% for all applicants.
Ph.D. Entrance Exam Syllabus for Paper I
The result of Paper-I will be displayed one hour after the Paper-I exam.
Only those applicants qualifying the Paper-I will be eligible to appear for Paper-II.
Paper II: This paper is subject-specific, subjective type and 2 hours duration. The aim of this paper is to check the subject knowledge, research thinking, communication skills, etc.
The passing percentage for this paper is 50% for all candidates.
VUPET is a qualifying examination. Candidates who score more than 50% marks in both papers are eligible to appear for an interview
Note: A relaxation of 5 % marks will be allowed in the entrance examination for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/differently-abled category, and Economically Weaker Section (EWS).
