The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is designed to transform India's educational landscape, promoting holistic, multidisciplinary, and skill-based learning. Vishwakarma University, Pune, has implemented key aspects of NEP 2020, aligning with the guidelines provided by the Government of India and Government of Maharashtra.

  1. Curricular and Credit Framework:
    • The university has adopted the new credit and curricular framework, applicable from the academic year 2023-24, for undergraduate (B.A., B.Sc., B.B.A, B.Des.) and postgraduate (M.A., M.Sc., M.B.A., M.C.A., M.Des.) programs, excluding those regulated by bodies like AICTE, PCI, BCI, CoA, NCTE, etc
    • Introduction of a flexible three/four-year UG program with multiple entry and exit options, allowing students to earn UG certificates, diplomas, or degrees based on credit accumulation.
  2. Multidisciplinary and Holistic Education:
    • The curriculum emphasizes a blend of major, minor, and elective courses, fostering multidisciplinary learning.
    • Vocational and skill enhancement courses, along with the integration of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) and Value Education, are included to ensure a holistic education.
  3. Multiple Entry and Exit Options:
    • The framework provides multiple exit points after completing one, two, or three years, with corresponding certifications, diplomas, or degrees. This offers students flexibility in their educational journey.
  4. Skill Development and Vocational Training:
    • The curriculum incorporates vocational skill courses and internships to enhance employability. Hands-on training is provided, aligning with the major and minor subjects to bridge the gap between education and industry requirements.
    • Further community engagement courses are part of curriculum to sensitize students with societal problems.
  5. Flexibility in Learning:
    • The university offers students the flexibility to move between disciplines and institutions, enhancing their learning experiences. There is also an option for alternative modes of learning, including offline, online, and hybrid models in line with UGC guidelines.
  6. Evaluation and Continuous Improvement:
    • The implementation of NEP 2020 at Vishwakarma University is under continuous review, ensuring that the curriculum remains relevant and aligned with the evolving educational landscape.
