In todays digital age, an enormous range of applications whether it is medical applications, manufacturing, or banking; computers are widely used to solve complex problems efficiently and in a short time. Hence, there is a growing need for Computer Engineers worldwide. The computer engineering programme successfully trains students to confront the challenges of their future professional life.
The programme prepares undergraduate students for a flourishing career in the field of technology and research. We ensure that the curriculum is a blend of core, professional and modern courses.
The B.Tech Computer Engineering Course has been designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge essential to excel in the area of computer engineering. In the Computer Engineering programme, students gain breadth and depth of knowledge in a multitude of computing specialties and are well prepared for industry positions as well as academic and research positions.
To create an intellectual and academically rich environment for careers in Computing Education and Research to fulfill global needs.
The Department of Computer Engineering was established in 2017. The first programme to be introduced was B.Tech. in Computer Engineering with an intake of 120. Subsequently, a second programme was introduced in academic year 2020-21, B.Tech. in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science with an intake of 30.
The department has good infrastructure to cater to both these courses. The laboratories are well equipped with the latest software and hardware. We have a good track record of job placements and our students are sent for a mandatory internship during the Final Year. Some deserving students are also sent for part time internship during the third year along with their course work. Students focus on academics as well as co-curricular activities, they have established a Software Club “Revolution”. This club organizes expert lectures, programming contests and provides student with a platform for acquiring and disseminating software knowledge.
The department has an MOU with IBM under which two specialization tracks are offered: Business Analytics and Cyber Security & Forensics. Each student has to undergo a seven course curriculum along with a minor project in one of these tracks.
The department has well qualified and experienced staff with expertise in various fields of research such as Cyber Security, Augmented & Virtual Reality, Cloud Computing and Deep Learning. Our faculty members are heading centers of excellence such as Unity Center of Excellence and Industry 4.0. They are also major contributors to other centers of excellence such as the Center for e-Learning, Design Thinking and Innovation. Our faculty members are also significant contributors to the University administration occupying roles such as Chief Information Security Officer, Director of International Relations, Chief Digital Officer, Director of Research, Director of VU Digital. The overall goal of the department is to nurture students to make them industry ready as well as prepare them for goals such as higher education, entrepreneurship and research.
