BA Music Programme Structure

Programme is designed by the co-founders of the Lakshminarayana Global Centre of Excellence (LGCE) – Violin Icon Padmabhushan Dr. L Subramaniam and legendary Bollywood playback singer Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam.

• Emphasis on the Gurukul system of learning - Holistic approach to music (70% focus on practical learning).
• Equal emphasis on Hindustani, Carnatic, and Western styles of music.
• Rooted in traditional Indian music with an emphasis on performance.
• Immersion / Exposure to elements of global music - African, Latin American, and European music.
• Lectures from world-renowned international artists
• The curriculum includes classes in Sanskrit as well as foreign languages to help students in demonstrations and performances abroad.
• An opportunity to learn from professional performers as faculty, which would add a valuable dimension to their performing abilities.
• Workshops on various subjects conducted by global music icons Dr. L. Subramanium & Smt. Kavita Krishnamurthy Subramaniam.
• Guest lectures by renowned Indian & Western music professionals on the relevant curriculum subjects.
• On-campus recording studios to learn audio/visual music technologies.
• Meeting and interacting with world-class performers from around the globe as part of their event management activity in the curriculum
• Opportunity to appear for the exams of Trinity College of Music, London
• Opportunity to undertake higher education in music after the completion of this course at renowned music institutions in the world like Berklee College of Music, Boston, etc.

• Prof.A.S.Gnanamoorthy was invited to accompany Padma Bhushan Dr. L.Subramaniam, Program Founder & Mentor, at Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav, one of the most prestigious music festivals in India.
• Prof. Ruchira Kedar was invited to conduct a 4-day workshop at Tripura University by Sangeet Natak Akademi, Govt. Of India
• Prof. Ruchira Kedar was invited for a performance at INS Shivaji, Lonavala by SPIC MACAY
• Prof.A. S. Ganamoorthy performed at Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival 2020 in Delhi, Hyderabad & Pune
• Shreya Joshi, the SYBA student, participated and got 3rd position in the Inter-collegiate music competition organized by Savitribai Phule Pune University and Modern College, Pune
• The students from the School of Music VU participated in “Firodiya Karandak”, a very prestigious inter-collegiate Theatre competition, and were placed in the TOP 15 category for their drama titled, “Atpadi Special”
