Overview

The Fashion Design and Technology fuses the creativity of accessory, apparel and textile design with professionalism, modern technical practices and advanced machinery. BFT in Fashion Design and Technology Programme at Vishwakarma University ensures a well-balanced structure of classroom training and practical application. The course incorporates traditional rural craftwork by working with indigenous rural artisans via the cluster program. A sequential hands-on experience enables students to conceptualize design, pattern making, draping, and construction of the garment of impeccable quality.

Students gain valuable insight into the broad spectrum that Indian fashion encompasses through internships at leading fashion houses and manufacturing units to improve knowledge and  overcome the practical challenges faced.

This versatility is evident in the- students through the graduating fashion collections, conceptualized and constructed by the students at the Design Collection showcase.


Design Oriented Knowledge –Apply the knowledge of Fashion, Design, and Technology,
visual culture, to develop a design solution for problems related to fashion.


Technical skills and Usage – Identify, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and
digital tools including prediction and design development with an understanding of the
limitations.


Entrepreneur skills - To create entrepreneurs having interdisciplinary approach and sustainable
approach.


Problem Analysis – Identify, research, analyze, and utilize design processes and extend design
solutions from concept to consumer.


Design Development – Develop designs for personalized, Mass production and ready-to-wear
requirements.


Design basics skills-Apply the principles of design fundamentals, analytical thinking, problem
solving during daily practice of drawing & Design.
Visual depiction skills - Communicate ideas through visuals with understanding of digital and
customary ways of drawing.


Design Research – Practice research methods for problem identification, collecting and
interpreting data, analyze, synthesize and apply to develop design solutions.


The Design for Society – Use of Design as a solution for societal problems like health, safety,
socio cultural aspects relevant to fashion and textiles.


Communication skills – Convey ideas effectively, clearly and logically by using appropriate
forms of written and verbal communication.


Teamwork –Work as an individual as well as a member effectively in different teams and in
different environments to have better productivity.


Leadership - Function effectively as a leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
Environment and Sustainability – Apply sustainable concepts, provide solutions by applying
reuse-recycle and be sensitive to environment,

  • Basic Qualification Required: Passed 12th/ 10+2 with English as a passing subject or 3 years Diploma or equivalent qualification from any recognized Board / University 
  • Minimum % of marks at Qualifying Exam for Open Category: 45%
  • Minimum marks at Qualifying Exam Reserve category: 40%

Separate accommodation and food facility for Boys and Girls on a first come first serve basis.
