The Department of Journalism & Mass Communication was set up in the year 2017 as per UGC guidelines and imparts two full-time degree programmes in media. A 3-years full-time Bachelor’s of Journalism & Mass Communication and a 2-years full-time Master’s of Journalism & Mass Communication. For the courses in Journalism, both the programmes draw from UNESCO prescribed syllabus. The other two specialisations offered at the undergraduate level are Advertising and New Media. While the post-graduate programme offers specialisations in Journalism, Advertising and Media Production. Both the programmes are taught by faculty with proven expertise in these areas. The Department also offers a perfect setting for learning different practical aspects in the form of a state-of-the-art audio-visual studio.
To rise as a leading centre of academic excellence with international recognition in journalism, media and communication integrating research and innovation.
Today, more than at any other point in history, the media landscape has become highly challenging, dynamic and exciting. We are in the age of excessive information overload and only the right combination of communication skills will prove to be the key to success. Rightly so, we at the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication are evolving too in the domains of imparting media education and research. In our pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning, we have ensured that our pedagogy is the perfect blend of classroom and experiential learning. Backed by experienced and qualified faculty, a robust industry-oriented curriculum and a state-of-the-art audio-visual studio, we are focused on creating media professionals who can hit the ground running.
