About the
Department

Fashion design is the art of applying design, aesthetics, clothing construction and natural beauty to clothing and its accessories. Set up in 2017, the Department of Fashion of Vishwakarma University is an acclaimed place for Fashion education in Pune that aims at educating individuals to be creative and responsible designers who will be competent to handle diverse areas of need/ situations in todays highly competitive and diverse Apparel Design Industry.

The department facilitates project-based teaching and learning and incorporates traditional rural craftwork by working with indigenous rural artisans via the cluster program. The Department is well equipped with a state-of-the-art fashion studio and Centre of Excellence in Design Thinking and Innovation. The Department offers internships and live projects. It adopts an innovative and integrated approach, global practices followed across the domains of textiles and fashion.

To create reflective design practitioners with expertise in Fashion Design integrating research, innovation and ethical values.

HOD Message

Welcome to the Department of Fashion! It is a privilege to introduce you to the world of design through our UG and PG programmes that are highly creative, innovative and focus on project-based learning. These programmes will equip the designers with holistic knowledge and a design perspective. We provide exposure to the students in Elements of Design, Basic Textile, Fashion illustration, Fashion Art, Sketching, Pattern Making, Garment construction, traditional textiles and craft. Along with that, efforts are made to shape the overall personality of the students through communication skills.

The ultimate aim is to create a responsible designer who will serve the country and society through innovation, education, and research. It is our prime endeavour to make our department an excellent avenue for the students who want to explore the field of fashion designing.
