You could also ask what is the average score obtained by students who are in the middle 50% of the currently admitted class to know what the average requirements are.
  2. Is there an application fee that needs to be paid? If so, what is the amount and is it possible to waive it?
  3. What is the university’s current acceptance rate?
  4. Are there any majors under which enrollment is capped or restricted? 
  5. Is there a standard form of application that needs to be filled? Are there any supplemental forms that also need to be submitted? 
  6. Do I need to specify my interest of course or major on the admission form? Are any of the courses offered by the university more competitive to get into than others?
  7. What are the key aspects you look for in an application that could give the applicant an edge over the other applicants?

Questions About Academics

  1. Are courses offered taught by heads of departments, professors, or teaching assistants?
  2. What would the class size be on average?
  3. In what circumstances are admitted applicants given an advisor? How do they help in course selection, especially when it comes to first-semester classes?
  4. As a student of the university, how many classes would I be attending per semester?
  5. Would these classes be in the form of lectures or discussion based forums?
  6. Besides in class, how much time would I have to dedicate to projects and assignments outside of class?
  7. Does the university have a library on campus? What are the official hours where a student can visit? Is it well stocked to provide all the required materials that you would need for any of the courses enrolled under? 
  8. What percentage of students choose to go abroad for further study after attending your university? Are students from all majors able to enroll in a course of their choice?

Questions About Student Support

  1. Are students allowed to seek help from their professors as and when required? Typically how often would a student need to reach out to them? How easy would it be to reach out to professors, especially ones who teach large courses?
  2. What additional services does the university provide? For example, are there health centres and counselling services available to students? Are these services charged?
  3. If a student suffers from a disability, are there any support services for them? 
  4. In the university management’s opinion, is there any resource or service that has not been utilised adequately by students to unlock their potential?
  5. Is there a placement and internship cell for students? Would it be able to assist students in landing research opportunities and jobs? Would students have access to these services even after graduating from university?
  6. Do students get the opportunity to interact with alumni and gather information on what the opportunities are available to them based on their experience? 
  7. Do students from STEM courses like Law, Medicine, etc get special advice and counselling from the university? Are there any additional benefits to enrolling students?

Questions About Financial Aid

  1. What percentage of students can be given Financial Aid?
  2. What is the average amount of financial aid that a student receives? In what form is the financial aid given?
  3. Are details of financial aid available on the university website?
  4. What is the total cost associated with enrolling at the university? Does this include tuition, accommodation, other fees, supplies?
  5. What kind of debt would a student be looking at post graduation? 

Questions to Ask Current Students or Alumni

  1. What are the main reasons you decided to enroll at this university?
  2. Did you feel well supported as a first-year student? Was it easy to make friends and build a community?
  3. How can a student find out about and join student council or other organisations and clubs?
  4. What kind of food is available on campus? Is there a decent variety available?
  5. What was your favourite part of campus life? Any event that stood out to you?
  6. Are there any traditions specific to this university that first-year/incoming students should know of?
  7. How inclusive is the student body on campus? Does the school have any specific policies that encourage community building and cultural diversity? 
  8. Are there any controversial issues on campus that one must steer clear of?
  9. Has safety ever been an issue on campus? 

Questions About Campus Housing And Community 

  1. Are all students required to live on campus? Are there options for accommodation and dining for students to choose from? 
  2. Are any of the dorms on campus sharing? Are any apartment style accommodations available?
  3. Does each dorm have its own bathroom facilities?
  4. Do all students choose to live on campus? What other accommodation options are available for students?
  5. Can students choose to live off campus if they wish to? Can they move after the first-year?
  6. Can students choose from all the accommodation options (if more than one) and pick their own roommate? If not, what is the process?
  7. Do accommodation monitors live in each facility? 
  8. How would you describe the environment and the relationship between the local community and the university? 
  9. Are there stores for basics and groceries around the campus?

  1. Do students of the university actively seek transfers? What is the reason behind it?
  2. What is the four year and five year graduation rate for undergraduates?
  3. What percentage of students find placements in the field of their choice within a year of graduating? 
  4. What do some of the most successful and prominent alumni of the university do for a living? 
  5. How successful are students who graduate in the field of law/engineering?
