VU has embarked on an exciting journey to transform the VU Campus to an EcoCampus, which will be a testbed for innovative sustainability solutions for the future. In this regard we are organizing various workshops to brings students and faculties from the different discipline on the same platform.
The vision of VU EcoCampus is to develop VU as “a global Sustainability thought leader, committed to improve the society, by providing an empowering partnership for development of technology and educating the future generation”. To further this vision into actions, total 5 areas have been identified as the key focus areas. VU EcoCampus is focused on demonstration projects to showcase innovative technologies and solutions for sustainable living. The intent is to holistically address sustainability at VU Campus using technologies such as (but not limited to): Energy assessment, smart sensors, e-learning, digital dashboards, clean energy generation, water conservation, smart waste management, greenery enhancement, user behaviour/engagement, etc.
Sustainability with an aim to reduce the carbon footprint was the key theme of the function organised to celebrate the launch of ‘Eco Campus’ set up at Vishwakarma University on 19 November, 2018. This initiative was formally inaugurated by Dr. Don McLean, the founder and CEO of ‘Integrated Environmental Solutions', IES, with the unveiling of the plaque and a mnemonic. Mr.Rohan Raute, Mr. Ameya Chincholikar and Dr. Nilesh Jadhav were the other dignitaries who graced the function along with Dr. Don McLean. Welcoming the guests, Mr. Bharat Agarwal, President, Vishwakarma University, highlighted the motto of ‘Sustainability along with durability’ while pointing to the commitment of conserving energy on the campus.
The guest of honour, Dr. Don McLean elaborated on the energy efficient model of IES which has made a mark of its own. Adding further, he said, “We can survive in a small range of energy consumption and prevent many species from dying and getting extinct. Everyone can make a difference every single day.”
Mr. Bharat Agarwal highlighted the difference made by IES under the leadership of Dr. McLean and stressed how Vishwakarma University aims to take a leaf out of their book. Later, the students from the departments of Engineering, Management, and Art and Design presented some interesting concepts on how they plan to turn Vishwakarma University into an Eco Campus. Dr. Siddharth Jabade, Vice Chancellor, Vishwakarma University, announced that some of the selected project concepts would be funded by VU. One of the projects recommended building a biomass plant that recycled food waste from canteens on the campus to generate biomass fuel which can subsequently save water and energy.

Wilo Foundation-Vishwakarma University promotes research in water treatment, purification and create the much-needed social awareness about clean drinking water through its Water Quality Centre of Excellence. The centre has been established with the help of grant from Wilo Foundation, Germany This innovative centre was inaugurated on 14th June 2018 by Prof. Dr. Hans Jorg Bullinger, Chairman Board of Trustees , Wilo Foundation.
The centre is a step towards fulfilling the motto of carrying out transformational research at Vishwakarma University. According to a report by World Resources Institute, as many as 54 per cent of India faces high to extremely high water stress. Moreover, the quality of water is very bad resulting in health hazards. It is thus imperative to provide drinking water in its cleanest form and In this perspective, Water Quality Centre of Excellence promotes the worldrenowned technology of purifying water which can be availed at lower cost. Presently, the cost of purifying water is very high. Moreover, during the purifying process, water can lose its drinking quality. Centre not only aims for providing the technological inventions but also to create awareness and develop sensitization towards the most important nonrenewable natural resource ‘water’ amongst the society.
