Vishwakarma University School of Pharmacy celebrated 11th World Pharmacist Day on Wednesday 25th September 2019. All the faculties and students participated in this celebration.
The event was inaugurated at the hands of Prof. (Dr.) Wasudeo Gade (Honorable Vice-President-VU), Prof. (Dr.) Kedar Sant (Registrar-VU) and Prof. (Dr.) Yuvraj Lahoti (CEO-VU) and Prof. (Dr.) Dipmala Patil (Faculty of Pharmacy) by lighting the lamp and “Saraswati Pujan”. Prof. (Dr.) Dipmala Patil briefed about the introduction and significance of the World Pharmacist Day theme. Prof. (Dr.) Wasudeo Gade motivated the students through his exemplary speech based on safe and effective use of different medicines.
The theme for the World Pharmacist Day 2019 was “Safe and Effective Medicines for All” and thus, celebrated by arranging the competitions such as Essay, Placard making and International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) video message competitions for the students, Pharma rally with Street play performance to spread awareness and Health check-up for all VU faculties. Parameters like Blood group, Blood pressure, Blood glucose and Hemoglobin levels were estimated.
The participants showcased their talents and creativity through their active contribution in the competitions. Enthusiasm of the students in the pharma rally was remarkable. Street play performance at VU campus (near Building no. 1) was very worthy of giving a significant take home message regarding safety use of medicines. Health check-up of all the faculties was great initiative towards healthy ending of the whole event. The winners and runner-ups of all the competitions were awarded with certificate and mementos as a token of appreciation. Overall, the event was celebrated with an aim having informative, health focused and professional approaches to highlight the role of pharmacist in the society.
