A conference on cyber security titled “Making our future digitally safe” was held on 11 Nov 2017 at Mahatma Phule Sanskrutik Bhavan, Wanvadi, Pune. The conference was organized by Economic offences wing (EOW) and the cyber cell of Pune city police. Prof. Subodh B. Kharat represented Viswakarma University and worked as organizing committee member for the conference. The following students from F.Y. B.Tech volunteered with the cyber cell- Aksa Memon, Siddhil Rathod, Abhishek Ranjan, Mridhul Rathod, Vaibhavi Naik, Jhanvi Pandya, Kunal Agarwal, Shubh Shah, Manas Mundhada, Rohit Joshi, Nabil Kadini, Manan Shah, Yash Talathi, Yash Wayase and Dhanraj Nimbalkar.
Addressing the audience Rashmi Shukla , Pune Police Commissioner said that schools and colleges should conduct counselling session to raise awareness about various cyber threats. Deputy Commissioner of police cyber cell Shri Sudhir Hiremath shared the details about “We fight Cyber Crime” (#WefightCC), an initiative of Pune city police to prevent cybercrime by educating students and teachers about it. During the conference, Bal Singh Rajput, Superintendent of police, cyber cell Maharastra talked about crime in cyber space. Speakers from various professional areas shared their views about cybercrime and security. Ravi Gupta (head of the trust and safety at Google), Rizwan Sheikh (ethical hacker), Subi Chaturvedi, (Head and senior director of public affaires COAI), Narsimha Rao (Project manager CDAC) all shared their views about awareness on cyber security and crimes in the conference. A panel discussion on “psychological implications and interventions dealing with cybercrimes” was also held as part of the conference.
