Samiksha Kanetkar(BBA SEM-III) has successfully participated in IMUN online conference 26.0 from October 10th to 11th, 2020.
IMUN stands for International Model United Nations. In this, the delegates are placed in committees and assigned countries to represent, or occasionally other organizations or political figures. They are presented with their assignments in advance, along with a topic or topics that their committee will discuss. There are several rules and procedures and also the participation fees for the conference
The conference 26.0 was from 12.30 pm to 3.00 pm IST for both the days i.e. 10th and 11th October. It was sponsored by the Australian Embassy, Vietnam, and Thailand.
My assigned country was the Republic of Gambia and my committee was United Nation Women-2(Protection of women against Violence) At the beginning of the conference, there was a speech by a guest speaker. Then the delegates were then moved to their virtual committee rooms and proceeded with discussions, debate, and deliberations on a plethora of topics based on the agendas that touched upon the questions of gender equality, domestic violence, rapes, molestations, and similar major issues that women face in today's era. We had to create and present a working paper and a draft resolution that contained the solutions to those problems at the international level.
The conference was concluded via a closing ceremony where the winners of committees were announced by their respective presiding officers on behalf of the team, a hearty congratulations to all the winners and we sincerely hope that all participants have received a positive learning experience 26.0. The overall experience was very good. Got to learn different issues and cultures of different countries. We even get to build up our connection and to get to know different people worldwide.
