Entering its rite of passage as a leading institute in the field of higher education, Vishwakarma University, Pune successfully organised its First Convocation Ceremony on Friday, 10 January at its Kondhwa campus.
Founded with a vision to co-create Human, Intellectual & Socio-Economic Capital par Excellence, for the nation and for the globe, the first convocation ceremony was a par-excellence event that laid the foundation of a rich tradition for years to come.
Prof. (Dr.) Bhushan Patwardhan (Vice Chairman, University Grants Commission (UGC) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest for the Ceremony and Mr. Pradeep Bhargava (President, MCCIA) was the guest of honour. Shri. Bharat Agarwal (President, Vishwakarma University) presided over the function. Chief Trustee Shri Rajkumar Agarwal, Mrs. Amita Agarwal, Vice President Prof Wasudeo Gade, Vice President Smt. Trupti Agarwal, Vice Chancellor Siddharth Jabade, Governing Board members Shri Lohia, Shri Pardeshi, Regisrar Prof Kedar Sant, Controller of Examination Prof Yuvarj Lahoti and the respective deans of the faculty were present for this ceremony on the dais.
Beginning with the ceremonial convocation procession of the Academic Council members led by Dr. Yuvraj Lahoti, Controller of Examination and carrying the staff, the ceremony began with eulogising the spirit of learning at the university with recital of the Vishwakarma University Song.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Siddharth Jabade presented a brief account of various achievements of the University before the august gathering since its inception in 2017, underscoring the role played in grooming young minds, turning them into a national asset.
This led to the most awaited ritual of conferring Award of Degrees in the faculty of Management, Humanities, Law, and Science & Technology after the announcement by the Hon. President.
In his ceremonial address the illustrious Guest of Honour Pradeep Bhargava compared and contrasted the world of opportunities available to the youth today with the past and fortifying oneself with values in the present day and time.
Illuminating on the spirit of the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Bhushan Patwardhan in his convocation address appreciated the pivotal role played by VU in disseminating quality education while critically analysing the New Education Policy that highlights disruption in student centric systems.
Introducing the concept of National Academic Credit Bank wherein a student can earn credit much before taking admission, Prof. Dr. Patwardhan also touched upon the new Semester outreach program which entails going out of classroom for gaining knowledge. He also urged students to be inquisitive and never stop asking questions in the quest of life-long learning. The ceremony concluded with an inspirational address by the President Shri. Bharat Agarwal as he outlined the importance of selfless service. THe gathering paid homage to the nation with the National Anthem followed by the Convocation procession.
