Vishwakarma University organized Train the Teacher (T3) workshop by IBM from 7th September – 9th September 2017 at the University campus. About 10 faculty members and select students attended the workshop. The aim of this workshop was to train the computer science / engineering teachers and students about the usage of open source software. It also spoke about how open source “Train the Teacher Workshop” by IBM Faculty Development software can be useful to cut down recurring costs and over lapping of time without any expenditure on paid OS for the desired programming and work. The attendees were briefed about the practical aspects of open source software development, its applications and modification to the existing OS software. Workshop included the theoretical and practical studies carried out in board room as well as in computer lab.
The benediction of this workshop by associating with IBM is an introduction of extra course in every semester which proposes to cover the detailed structure of open source software and its applications. Curriculum, subject matrix, Lab set-ups and trainings for these courses are designed and provided by IBM which will be taught by Vishwakarma University faculty. Visits, webinars and internships are circulated by the IBM officials to the professors and thereby to the students involved. Mr. Vikaruddin Surki was the workshop instructor from IBM.
