Vishwakarma University, Music department conducted an introductory session on Indian music for exchange students from Thailand studying Computer Science at VU. The students were introduced to the basic melodic and rhythmic concepts in Indian music, our traditional instruments and the differences with Western music. A small session was conducted where they tried to keep rhythm with an Indian instrumental recording. Towards the end of the session, the Thai students also sang a folk song in their native language and mingled with the B.A. Music students. This session was conducted to familiarize the exchange students with the environment at VU and as a value addition to their entire visit.
