Inter Institute Football Tournament ahead of U-17 FIFA World Cup

Vishwakarma University supports Maharashtra Government Mission (MM1M). FIFA U17 World Cup was organized for the first time in the country, in the state of Maharashtra. To support this event, Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Shri. Devendra Phadnavis has launched the 'Maharashtra Mission 1 Million' initiative under which over 10 lakh students across the state will play football. The purpose of the initiative is not only to create football players and lovers of the game, but also to make children come out in open spaces and play, leading the road to health for everyone through moderation, harmony, and a sound mind in a sound body. Football, being a team sport, Inter Institute Football Tournament ahead of U-17 FIFA World Cup Extra-curricular activities helps to enhance qualities like endurance, agility and teaches values of team spirit, self-confidence and sportsmanship.

To bring unity and oneness amongst youth with football as a medium, 8 players a side football tournament was organized at Vishwakarma University campus on 15th September 2017. The organizing committee comprises of Director, Physical Education from respective institutes / departments. The tournament was inaugurated at the hands of Dr. Avadhut Atre, Dean, (Art, Design & Architecture) at Vishwakarma University. Participating football teams were from VIIT, VIT, VCACS and Vishwakarma University.
