Inauguration of Wilo Foundation and Vishwakarma University - Water Quality Centre of Excellence

Vishwakarma University today inaugurated an innovative Water Quality Centre of Excellence to promote research in water treatment, purification and create the much-needed social awareness about clean drinking water. The centre has been established with the help of grant from Wilo Foundation, Germany. Prof. Dr. Hans – Jorg Bullinger, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Wilo Foundation was present as a chief guest for the function.

The centre is a step towards fulfilling the motto of carrying out transformational research at Vishwakarma University. According to a report by World Resources Institute, as many as 54 per cent of India faces high to extremely high water stress. Moreover, the quality of water is very bad resulting in health hazards. It is thus imperative to provide drinking water in its cleanest form and Vishwakarma University has pledged to do its bit in this area with the help of Wilo Foundation. The idea of establishing the Water Quality Centre of Excellence is to promote the world-renowned technology of purifying water which can be availed at lower cost. Presently, the cost of purifying water is very high. Moreover, during the purifying process, water can lose its drinking quality. At the Water Quality of Centre of Excellence these challenges have been addressed. Students and faculty of Vishwakarma University will be working in collaboration with Wilo on various facets of this technology proliferation for the benefit of our society at large.

Vishwakarma University has also established an innovative water ATM at its Kondhva campus. Students would only need to swipe their identity cards at Water ATM to get clean, processed water. This easy to operate Water ATMs can be built in rural areas to meet the need of clean drinking water. On the occasion of inauguration of Water Quality Centre of Excellence, Prof. Bullinger congratulated Vishwakarma University for not only taking efforts to create awareness about drinking water but also to contribute to the society by way of establishing Water ATM. In his speech, he also highlighted the Industry 4.0 concept and power of innovation.

Mrs. Evi Carola Hoch, Member, Executive ‌Board, Wilo Foundation, Bharat Agarwal, President, Vishwakarma University, Prof. Dr. Wasudeo Gade, Vice President, Vishwakarma University, Prof. Dr. Siddharth Jabade, Vice-Chancellor, Vishwakarma University, Hemant Watve, Managing Director, Wilo Mather Platt India were present on the occasion.
