As a part of collaboration between VU and IBM, we are offering IBM-ICE specialization tracks for B.Tech Computer Engineering students. IBM has organized an event “Gurukool” for T.Y Computer Engineering Students from 7th to 9th February 2019 at Banglore.

Session 1: Key note address by ADG of Police, Karnataka Mr. Sanjay Sahay.
Learning Outcomes: In Key note address Mr. Sanjay Sahay (ADG of Police, Karnataka) focused on the role of Cyber Security and Cyber Forensics in the investigation. He also highlighted what skillsets are required for these job profiles. He also emphasized on the gaps between these peculiar job profiles and fresh engineering graduates.
Session 2: Panel discussion on the tectonic shift in technology from west to east. India’s role and new working model-jobs of the new generation
Learning Outcomes: The panelists focused on India’ role in the knowledge economy of 21 century. The tectonic shift of looking east in the technology development, were the product is developed with the needs of developing world and then further glocalization is done. The panelist also shared their success stories.
Session 3: Neuro Linguistic Programming(NLP)
Learning Outcomes: The talk focused on research and innovation going in the field of Neurology for learning the language of your own mind called Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). The researchers in the field of NLP require machine learning capabilities and optimized hardware which is provided by IBM Watson. The IBM Watsons role in the field of NLP research was emphasized in the talk and the even the research avenues were discussed.
Session 4: Guidance to students regarding job interview by Ms. Iyengar
Learning Outcomes: Ms. Iyengar is one of the senior persons in the IBM HR team at Banglore responsible for the recruitment of fresh Engineering Graduates. She briefed the students about the does and don’t during interview. Mock interview of few nominated students were as well conducted which helped the students understand how to face the interview.
Session 5: Presentation of startup ides from some students.
Learning Outcomes: Selected students presented their startup ideas and the steps that they have already taken while they are still in 3rd year on the Graduation ·
Day 2: Project Development
Students are divided into groups and they have assigned projects. Students have to carry out Software Development Lifecycle tasks on given project and present in front of the panel. Learning Outcomes: Industry follows the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) for all the projects undertaken. The fresh engineering graduates lack hands on experience of this SDLC process. To bridge this gap, an attempt was made were students were divided into teams and each team was given a project idea. The experts from IBM gave brief on what is expected in the SDLC processes and students had to prepare and present the documents generated during this SDLC process. ·
Day 3: Visit to NxtGen Data Centre
Learning Outcomes: The students visited the NxtGen Data Centre from Banglore were the experts from datacenter briefed them about work profile of different departments.
