A guest session on Decision Economy was organized at the Vishwakarma University campus by the Faculty of Commerce, Management and Law on Tuesday 14 Nov, 2017 for the MBA and BBA students. The key speaker for the event Mr. Rohitash Gupta, an Engineer-MBA has 20 years of experience in Marketing, Corporate development, Management consulting, Operations and Finance. He has worked in Engineering (ABB), Automotive (Tata Group), IT (Siemens) and ITeS industries (eClerx). He has been associated with NASSCOM as BPM (full forms) council member for 2015-17 and post that as NASSCOM’s WR council member and member of Education sub-committee for Western region at CII. He is passionate about skilling India and conducts full day workshops for corporates and MBA institutes on applying behavioral economics for decision making.
The speaker enlightened the students about the basics of behavioral economics. The session gave students insights into the shortcomings of big data for decision making. He stressed on key cognitive biases citing easy to understand and relatable examples. He explained the steps of decision making process emphasizing on Urgency Vs Importance and how better decisions are required for better forecasting techniques. The speaker answered key questions in Q&A session. It was a very informative session broadening up the understanding of decision-making process and its importance.
