VU Art and Design, Department of Product design organized a Bamboo workshop from 25th September to 28th September 2019 at Bamboo Tales, Bavdhan. Experience without theory is blind, but theory without experience is mere intellectual play. So Product Design department of Vishwakarma University had provided the product design students 4 days workshop at Bamboo Tales which is Pune’s renowned bamboo workshop having a diverse collection with all types of products and furniture. Utilizing this workshop students gained tangible knowledge with bamboo materials and found a balance in their thought process through holistic visualization. On the first day, Mr. Ashok Satpute managing director of bamboo tales shared his knowledge and insights on how to grow and harvest bamboo along with its physical properties. He invited guests who are government staff happy to share their immense knowledge on bamboo products with product design students. On the second day, students came up with ideations of versatile products that can be built using bamboo. Once the students discussed their ideations with Mr.Ashok Satpute and his employees they started making mock-ups of their ideation. After completing a satisfactory mock-up, the students made a prototype or the product itself with the help of bamboo tales employees who are skilled at utilizing bamboo in various forms. On the final day, all the students came up with their own products completed and evaluated by bamboo tales employees along with Mr. Ashok Satpute. The product design students of Vishwakarma University were able to seek tangible knowledge on various workshop tools & materials that's been used in a bamboo workshop and enjoyed having a wonderful experience during this workshop.
