Designed to Impart Professional Legal Competence


This LLB  three-year course is an undergraduate degree in Law enabling the students to get requisite knowledge of basic laws, both substantive and procedural laws, to be skilled legal professionals. The students can practice in various fields of law in the public as well as private sectors.

The programme curriculum, through elective papers offered, enables the students to acquire a certain extent of specialization in Constitutional Law, Business and International Trade Laws, Criminology and Cyber Law, International Law, and IPR. The Curriculum is designed in such a way to include contemporary trends and issues in cyber-crimes, media laws, agricultural industries, etc

This law course will help students gain a better understanding of the Indian legal system and the underlying philosophy and theoretical considerations.

Outcome On successful completion of the LLB programme at VU (Law) the student will be able to :
1 Acquire knowledge of various law provisions, statutes, legal principles, and doctrines.
2 Identify the correct provisions of the law and legal principles which are relevant to a given factual situation.
3 Demonstrate planning capabilities and time management by completing assignments, projects, and other tasks in a time-bound manner.
4 Provide legal advice and consultancy to corporate clients, individuals, and government institutions.
5 Conduct independent legal research using renowned legal databases.
6 Make persuasive arguments before judicial and quasi-judicial bodies.
7 Draft plaints, written statements, and other legal documents
8 Publish research papers in journals, books and periodicals thereby contributing to academia.
9 Honour the rule of law and keep the law above personal biases.
10 Understand the impact of law and legal provisions on industry, environment, society and humankind.
11 Promote the idea of Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity and imbibe a spirit of brotherhood surpassing the barriers of religion, caste, class, gender, language, and other diversities.
12 Understand the importance of providing legal services to the needy and non-governmental organizations on a pro-bono basis.
13 Appreciate law in context with their primary graduation subject which will enable them to provide holistic solutions to their clients.

  • It is ensured that students learn to apply knowledge of substantive and procedural laws as interpreted by courts to a diverse range of facts or real-life or practical situations.
  • Soft Skill and Advocacy Skill training, Case-Studies, Moot Court, Professional Ethics, are distinctive features of this course.
  • The VU campus is equipped with Moot Court Rooms for Mock Trials.
  • The Clinical Legal Aid Center will enable the students to solve the cases and interact with community members.
  • Skill-based Add-on courses and various Guest Session will provide further exposure to the students
