The B.Des. programme at the Faculty of Art & Design at Vishwakarma University, Pune aims to shape the students to create a vision for the future with an interdisciplinary approach. The programme offers degrees in three domains- Graphic Design, Product Design, and User Experience Design.

Design is a continuous process of observation, experimentation, and creation. Design education at the Faculty of Art & Design, VU, Pune is all-encompassing and coexists in an active triadic relationship with design education, design research, and design practice. Designers communicate through their ideas created by combining visuals, text, colours, and symbols.

These courses demand clear conceptual thinking, along with the skills and craftsmanship to translate ideas into beautifully executed work. The programme aims to develop the knowledge to solve the problems creatively and to encourage a spirit of innovation in the industry. It endeavours to promote a long-term interaction and develop a symbiotic relationship between academia, industry, and government bodies.

Outcome On successful completion of the B.Des. programme at VU (A&D) the student will be able to :
1 Understand the inter-relationship of various parameters in the design process like gathering data, analyzing, synthesizing and applying to develop a design solution.
2 Analyze, synthesize, and utilize design processes and strategies from concept to delivery to creatively solve communication problems.
3 Specialize in particular domains and aligned sectors.
4 Apply the principles of design fundamentals, analytical thinking, problem-solving during the daily practice of drawing & design.
5 Conduct thorough field research and collect qualitative and quantitative information for an interdisciplinary approach
6 Maintain ethics in design application as per need and situation.
7 Communicate ideas through visuals with an understanding of digital and traditional ways of drawing.
8 Evaluate and apply various methodologies as per the needs of the target audience..
9 Develop the skill set to work in the collaborative dynamic of a design team.
10 Employ Real-World Applications: Design seamless products (digital and physical) and user-friendly interfaces that spark their professional interest.
11 Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.
12 Create communication solutions that address audiences and contexts, by recognizing the human factors that determine design decisions as per market needs.
13 Participate in professional design practice and management within a collaborative work environment.
14 Identify and analyze the design and development processes in the industry.

  • Rs. 3,65,000/- Per academic year (annual fees). The fees will remains same for the subsequent years of the batch.
  • Hostel fees (if applicable) and Examination Form Fee will be charged separately.
