Overview
 

The Digital Filmmaking programme offered by Vishwakarma University, Pune is crafted to give students in-depth knowledge and exposure in the film industry. The programme enhances the students’ level of understanding about various processes of digital film making, creative & aesthetic abilities, visualization power and real-time experiences. Students are taught the basic criteria of bringing life to stories. Learn the real craft of filmmaking here and live the life of a filmmaker.

The students learn two key aspects of filmmaking – storytelling & production. The filmmaking course combines the expertise of a highly committed team of professionally skilled and experienced faculty and guest lectures along with an advanced curriculum that includes theory, processes, practical training and technology that provide an understanding of filmmaking, animation and VFX in an aesthetic way.

The programme also covers the fundamentals of VFX, spanning from conception to application and final production. The film specialization path focuses on production through visual and sound artistry utilizing hands-on experience with the camera, editing, and sound equipment. The filmmaking path also leads to sub-specialization in direction, sound, cinematography and editing along with major film productions. The specializations ultimately develop students’ production skills and promote filmmaking as creative media.


 
 
Outcome On successful completion of BVA - Digital Filmmaking programme at VU the student will be able to :
1 Analyze the historical and theoretical foundations of filmmaking
2 Create film work that manifests the filmmaker's unique voice.
3 Analyze the story structure and the screenwriting process for use in the critique and creation of a film.
4 Apply current best practices in cinematography.
5 Apply current best practices in editing language and visual effects.
6 Effectively manage the resources and logistics required to produce a film.
7 Edit digital video on non-linear, industry-standard software and equipment.
8 Collaborate as a member or leader of a filmmaking team.
9 Evaluate the ethical implications inherent in filmmaking practices.
10 Analyze one's own interests and skills in the context of filmmaking industry challenges and opportunities in order to help formulate career goals.
11 Analyze the relationship between film and other art forms and intellectual discipline.
12 Understand the film distribution and business, the process of censorship and the safety and health measures.

  • Basic Qualification Required: Passed 12th / 10+2 with English as a passing subject or 3 years Diploma or equivalent qualification from any recognized Board / University.
  • Minimum % of marks at Qualifying Exam for Open Category: 45%
  • Minimum marks at Qualifying Exam for Reserve category: 40%

  • Rs. 4,00,000/- Per academic year (annual fees). The fees will remain the same for the subsequent years of the batch.
  • Hostel fees (if applicable) and Examination Form Fee will be charged separately.
