Overview

The B.Tech Mechanical Course prepares students for their career paths with an ability to apply knowledge, skills, and fundamental principles of mechanical engineering in the context of rapidly changing technologies. Our aim is to prepare students for a variety of industries viz. manufacturing, casting, automobile, aerospace, etc. 

Making the learner competent to lead his/her career in the areas of design, materials, thermal, manufacturing, automation, etc is an integral aspect of the B.Tech Mechanical Course. We ensure the application of the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

The programme offers two specialization tracks including:

  • Future Mobility
  • Smart and sustainable systems

The specializations offered present the students with an opportunity to equip themselves with the knowledge and skills relevant to the technologies of tomorrow.


 
Outcome On successful completion of B.Tech Mechanical programme at VU (S&T) the student will be able to :
1 Engineering knowledge: Understand, relate & apply the fundamentals of engineering & mathematical sciences to solve intricate engineering problems.
2 Identify, organize, review related literature, and examine complex engineering problems to provide conclusions using fundamentals of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
3 Design/development of solutions: Provide design solutions for multifaceted engineering problems and accordingly design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with apposite considerations of social and environmental impact.
4 Conduct investigations of complex problems: Employ research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis, and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
5 Modern tool usage: Select and apply germane techniques, resources, and contemporary engineering tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of technical constraints.
6 The engineer and society: Apply contextual knowledge-based reasoning to assess society, health, safety, legal and cultural issues, and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
7 Environment and sustainability: Comprehend the impact of the technology in societal and environmental contexts, and exhibit the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
8 Ethics: Imbibe ethical practices and follow the professional ethics and responsibilities to be a responsible citizen.
9 Individual and teamwork: Work effectively in a cross-functional team in various roles like a member, leader, etc.
10 Communication: Present, communicate, document, and report effectively the engineering solutions with the engineering community and with society in general.
11 Project management and finance: Apply knowledge of the engineering and management principles to incorporate in one’s own work in professional life.
12 Lifelong learning: Engage in lifelong learning in the context of anticipating technological change.
