Overview

The Fashion Design Course curriculum is based on a design sensitization that balances global fashion aesthetics with an Indian soul. It addresses the needs of the export market as well as both couture and prêt-à-porter in India. 

Holistic inputs on a generic design with a focused approach towards apparel inculcate the ability to develop and channelize creativity. A sequential hands-on experience enables students to conceptualize design, pattern making, draping, and construction of the garment of impeccable quality.

Admission to our institute will ensure a well-balanced structure of classroom training and practical application is the highlight of the course at our Fashion Design Institute. 

The course incorporates traditional rural craftwork by working with indigenous rural artisans via the cluster program. Students gain valuable insight into the broad spectrum that Indian fashion encompasses through internships at leading fashion houses/ manufacturing units to improve knowledge and overcome the practical challenges faced. This versatility is evident in the final year through the graduating fashion collections, conceptualized and constructed by the students at the Design Collection showcase.


 
Outcome On successful completion of BA (Fashion and Apparel Design) programme at VU (A&D) the student will be able to :
1 Get a detailed view of the overall working of the Fashion Industry and its various components.
2 Contributed hands-on knowledge and skills by interface with various craft sectors.
3 Practically manage design thinking and the ability to visualize.
4 Handed over the knowledge of the software used in the fashion industry across all levels starting from concept development to retail.
5 Equipped with core competence in the hand skills used in communicating the concepts, designing and manufacturing
6 Allocated a novel stage to its students changing them into experts and setting them up for a wide assortment of vocations.
7 Demonstrate managerial skills (Work collaboratively, communicate effectively, present professionally, etc.)
8 Apply analytical and critical thinking abilities for problem-solving.
9 Procured a capacity to examine fashion and design with insight and logical interface regarding issues identified with it and its business universally and broadly.
10 Comprehend the market structure, operational methods of the business, customer prerequisites, and assumptions as far as national and international market patterns and quality principles winning in the fashion and textile industry.
11 Accomplish capability in proficient presentations and exhibit the capacity to work with innovative skills and presentation creativity.
12 Apply calculated and down-to-earth configuration cycles to make imaginative fashion products as per the clients.

  • Basic Qualification Required: Passed 12th/ 10+2 with English as a passing subject or 3 years Diploma or equivalent qualification from any recognized Board / University 
  • Minimum % of marks at Qualifying Exam for Open Category: 45%
  • Minimum marks at Qualifying Exam Reserve category: 40%

  • Rs. 1,35,000/- Per academic year (annual fees). The fees will remains same for the subsequent years of the batch.
  • Hostel fees (if applicable) and Examination Form Fee will be charged separately.
