The program is aimed at providing enhanced knowledge, skill and competence to working professionals as well as fresh graduate in the domain of Design. This is a “Learner Cantered Need Based Experiential Learning Programme” that leads to a M.Tech. degree with specialization in Design domain in Mechanical Engineering.

This is very wide and important field of mechanical engineering with huge market potential for design professionals. You can associate any field of engineering, actively or passively, with machine design. The scope of the programme is associated with the advanced level design necessary for complex engineering systems comprising primarily mechanical, electrical and electronics components. Such systems involve non-linearities and require fundamental and advance knowledge of mechanical engineering design. Design Engineering deals with finite element analysis of stress strain distribution as well as dynamical and vibrational modelling.

This programme also focusses on imparting enough knowledge on designing robust products which are economical and can meet to the downstream product life stages like manufacturing, assembly and maintenance.

It is a two years full time post graduate program leading to master’s degree in Design.

The Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering (Design) at VU prepares students to achieve following career and professional accomplishments within a few years of post-graduation. The post-graduates of the program

PEO1 : Will demonstrate good analytical, research and design skills in machine design.

PEO2 : Will adapt to changing technologies, modern tools and societal requirements and undertake research for creating innovative systems and optimized solutions.

After completing this program a student should be able to:
