World Mental Health Day

The Psychology Department at Vishwakarma University organized an array of interesting activities to raise awareness about mental health on World Mental Health Day on October 10, 2018.

A week before the Mental Health Day, a ‘let it out’ and let’s talk about it’ venting campaign was initiated where students could write about anything that makes them uncomfortable, on sticky notes. Students enthusiastically responded to this initiative and in return, they got to wear a green ribbon for spreading awareness about mental health. For the main event on 10th October 2018, Prof. Jiyaa Khatri moderated an awareness-raising session on mental health with Dr. Bhupender Singh and Prof. Shubham Sherekar. A street play on encouraging the expression of our inhibitions was the highlight of the event.

An overwhelming crowd of almost 200 people gathered to watch the live performance of the play. The compelling act exposed how people repress their feelings. It also touched upon depression amongst teenagers. The Psychology department is now determined to work on instituting the importance of psychologists with their trademark name “PSYCLONE”.
